Jack Potter
1949: Graduated from Art Center School. Moved to New York City.
1951: Returned to Los Angeles to teach at Art Center.
1954: Returned to New York City. Active illustrator from 1955-1965.
1957: Coca Cola Ad Campaign (1957-1959)
Paid $2,000 during these years fro a group of illustrations to accompany a fiction piece in a magazine. Represented by Willard Seymour and by Perkins and Lavaty. These two firms sold his art to high-end clients.
1959: L.S. Ayres Department Store Campaign (1959-1962). Ads ran twice each year in Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Each ad had a tall, sophisticated woman.
1965: Became a teacher at School of Visual Arts, NYC.
Mimi Monette and Jack Potter:
1942: Met Jack Potter at a social event at Art Center. Potter was spotted by Mr. Adams as a promising student, and ultimately worked as a teacher at Art Center.
Potter was younger than Mimi, but introduced himself. He often used her as a model. She was NOT a professional model, and only did this work for Potter.
1949: Mimi claims that she was the person who encouraged Potter to move to NYC.
1954: Potter became friendly with Eric.
1958: Eric died in NYC. Potter helped dispose of works in studio. Three drawings bought by Mimi, and now sold to Jack. Came from studio sale.
