David McGee
David McGee (American, born 1962)
Texas-based artist David McGee’s works range from small lithographs to large murals that combine his knowledge of art history and literature with contemporary popular American culture. His commentaries on modern life draw from a large pool of references, from Cervantes to Hip Hop, mixing cultures through art to provoke viewers and uncover universal truths. A graduate of Prairie View A & M University in Texas (1985), McGee received the Joan Mitchell Award for Painters and Sculptors in 2006.
