Walter R. Nexsen1915–2002

Mr. Nexsen was born January 1, 1915 in Lynchburg. He attended Lynchburg public schools, graduating from E.C. Glass High School in 1933 and the University of Virginia School of Architecture in 1937. He was associated in the practice of architecture with Pendleton S. Clark, S. Preston Craighill, Wiley and Wilson and Clark, Nexsen, Owen, Barbieri and Gibson. He retired as Chairman of the Board of C.N.O.B.G. Architects and Engineers in 1986 with offices in Lynchburg, Norfolk, Madrid, Spain and Charlotte, N.C. During World War II, he was with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Europe from 1943 to 1946 and was discharged in 1951 with the rank of Major. He was president of the Virginia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the Vestry of St. John's Episcopal Church, member of the board of Jones Memorial Library, member of Boonsboro Country Club, Princess Anne Country Club and Kiwanas Club. Walter Nexsen died Wednesday, September 4, 2002.
