Efharis Alepedis
Efharis Alepedis was born in Everett, Massachusetts, U.S.A in 1969. She lives and works as a jeweler in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1995 she received her Master of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, Rhode Island with a concentration in Jewelry/Metals. She interned with Ilias Lalaounis in Athens, Greece in 1995-96. She has been included in publications over the years like: Fundamentals of Metalsmithing by Tim McCreight, The Dictionary of Greek Fine Artists, Melissa Publications, Athens, Greece, The Compendium Finale of Contemporary Jewelers 2008, Darling Publications, Showcase 500 Art Necklaces, Lark Jewelry and Beading, American Craft and Metalsmith Magazines. She is a member of The Society of North American Goldsmiths, American Craft Council, the Art Jewelry Forum, and is a board member of Society of Arts and Crafts, Boston. She has been collecting contemporary jewelry for over twenty years. Two of her pieces were recently acquired by The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Massachusetts. When creating she often combines traditional materials like gold with non-traditional materials such as leather, resin, silicone, silk cocoons, rubber and sea urchins; the aim of these dichotomies is to create interesting dialogues.
