made by Rebexy Gray (also written Rebecsa)
born Aug. 23, 1822 in Morgantown, Va.
Rebexy married Archibald Hamilton of Whitely Farm, Greene Co. Pennsylvania
in 1845.
She went to Illinois as a young women with her husband and infant daughter, (my grandmother) living first in Marion; then moved to Lincoln, Ill.
Her husband died in a railroad accident in 1862. She was married briefly to a business man named Nolan; he too died.
My grandmother was married in 1868: lived in Lincoln. Eventually Rebexy came to live with them and died in their home Aug.1899, which happened to be my second birthday.
Betty Holden.
Betty died in Berkeley, Calif. in 1988.
The quilt was brought to us and we purchased it then.
