Born Paul Dwight Pilgrim 11.9.1942 in Coalinga, California. Graduated from Mills College with Masters in Fine Art in 1967, along with Gerald E. Roy. Together, the two created the Pilgrim/Roy Collection of quilts. They lived together in Oakland, California, had an antique business there, and were important quilt dealers and collectors in the last quarter of the twentith century. Paul started quilting in the early 1980s and was known for using 19th- and early-20th-century textiles and pieced squares in the tops of his quilts. He gave many quilting workshops throughout the country. He died in 1996, presumably near his home in Oakland, California.
