Mary Child Bacon Fowler was born July, 12, 1800 in East Woodstock, CT; died March 10, 1858 in East Woodstock; married John Fowler (b. August 18, 1793 in Lebanon, CT, d. October 27, 1843) on Sept. 23, 1819 in East Woodstock. They had three children--Mary Hellen Fowler Weeks (June 11, 1823 in Woodstock, CT-August 18, 1897 in Newton, MA), Edward Payson Fowler, and Sarah (m. Nathen Eugene Morse).

Her maternal grandparents were Sarah House/Howes Clapp (c. 1741-1814) and Major Earl Clapp (1741-1836). Both born in Rochester, MA and were married there September 3, 1761. They had 10 chilodren, and te second youngest was Bethiah (b. 1778). Maj. Clapp served at Valley forge during the American Revolution. They moved to East Woodstock, Ct around 1799, and Major Clapp may have kept a tavern in North Woodstock, CT. After the death of his first wife, he married widow Pheobe Dutch.

Her parents were Bethiah Clapp Bacon (b. 1778-1865) and Alvan Bacon (1769-1828), both of East Woodstock. They married October 1, 1799 and had three children, Mary Child (b. 1800, named for his mother), Parker (b/d 1804), and Sarah Howes (b. 1806). Bethia Clapp Bacon moved to Lancaster, NH after the death of her daughter Mary Child Bacon Fowler to live with her granddaughter Mary Bacon Fowler Weeks.

Her sister was Sarah Howes Bacon Williams (June 18, 1809-MArch 23, 1857), who married Jared Warner Williams (1793-1864) of West Woodstock, CT. They moved to Lancaster, NH in 1822, where he practiced law and was elected Governor of NH in 1847 and served as a US Senator in 1853-55.
