Sally H. BradfordAmerican, 1798–1879

Sally H. Bradford (1798-1879), born in Boston to Rachel and Philip Richardson (see below); married Zephaniah Bradford (1799-1868) of Plymouth; had twelve children (first, Priscilla Moton Bradford b. May 12, 1823); died at 28 Vinton St. in Boston. Zephaniah Bradford probably apprenticed with Philip Richardson, because he was described as a ropemaker in the 1850 Boston census and the 1865 Plymouth census. Their fourth child, also named Zephaniah Bradford, was born in Chelsea in 1827. In the 1860 Plymouth census, Zephaniah Bradford is described as a laborer with $2,500 in real property and $600 in person property; and in 1841, he bought the upper portion of the Joseph Tibble House in Plymouth from William Jackson and sold it Bradford Barnes in 1865.

Rachel Johonnot, baptized Feb. 5, 1769, New North Church in Boston, sixth child of John and Sarah Johonnot (Huguenot name); married Philip Richardson Feb. 7, 1796 at Second Baptist Church in Boston; Philip Richardson ropemaker on Belnap Lane with real estate in Charlestown (Boston, Trading Records, 1800). He was known as the proprietor of “Richardson’s Ropewalk” (see NEHGS Journal, v. 23, p. 480, 1869, membership application of Joseph Richardson).

5th child of Sally H. Bradford:

Elizabeth Richardson Bradford (1829-1880), born in Plymouth or possibly Boston, MA; fifth child of Zephaniah and Sally H. Bradford; married Solomon Kenyon (1817-1895, parasol/umbrella maker) in Boston in 1850 (his second marriage, her first); died Jan., 24, 1880 at 61 Tyler St. in Boston. Solomon Kenyon was described as an “exforceman” in the 1865 Boston census; died on July 8, 1895 at 6 Warren Square and was described as a lamplighter; native of Vermont; parents’ were names Giles and Sarah
