Robert Becenti Jr
A Native American artist, Robert Becent, Jr. was born January 13, 1949, in Rehoboth into the Zuni People Clan for the Towering House in NM area of the Navajo Reservation. His mother, Bessie Becenti, was a well known weaver.
Robert lived and worked in Gallup. He was an award winning silversmith, who started making jewelry in the late 1960's. He is referenced in Wright's "Hallmarks of the Southwest", Hougart's "Native American and Southwestern Silver Hallmarks", Schaaf's "American Indian Jewelry I and II" and was featured in the 1990 December issue of Southwest Art magazine.
He passed away at the age of 52. on April 22, 2001, in Gallup, New Mexico.
