Studied: Cincinnati Art Academy and Ohio Mechanics Institute.

1922 moves to NYC with Joseph Pennell to teach lithography at Art Students League. Stays until 1937.

1928 tralvels to Paris (Rockefeller grant to study French painters).

Studnts: John Stuart Curry, Paul Cadmus, Don Freeman.
