Description
This mantel came from a bedroom in Oak Hill, the mansion built for Elizabeth Derby West in Danvers, Massachusetts. Daughter of the richest man in the United States, West spared no cost in decorating her new home, hiring McIntire to execute elaborate, coordinated designs for the door lintels, fireplace surrounds, and furniture. Three rooms from Oak Hill are on this level.
