ProvenancePossibly in the Landor and Turene collections [see note 1]. Counts Negroni, Rome. 1921, sold by Durlacher Brothers, New York, to the MFA for $3110. (Accession Date: March 2, 1921)
NOTES:
[1] According to a letter from A. E. Merriman Paff of Durlacher to the MFA (March 9, 1921), this picture was previously in the Negroni, Landor and Turene collections. A largely obliterated wax seal on the verso of the panel appears to show the Negroni coat-of-arms; no further information has been obtained about the Landor and Turene collections.
