The Stripes were Louis's last series and demonstrate the use of Magna paint in a less dilute form. Louis may have used a large swab stick to apply the paint in regular bands, without layering. The intensely colored stripes emphasize the paintings' narrow, vertical format, a dramatic change in scale from Louis's earlier work.
