Description
Regency furniture designs were novel in both form and function and a variety of tables for specific purposes were often used in the library. This work table with a fitted bag under the top drawer was used to hold sewing materials. A popular design in England and France, its lightweight construction allowed it to be moved easily around a room.
Provenance2002, H. Blairman and Sons, Ltd., London. By 2004, acquired on the London art market by Horace Wood Brock, New York; 2004, gift of Horace Wood Brock to the MFA. (Accession Date: February 23, 2005)
