This tray is animated with brightly colored flowers, trees, and birds surrounding two Chinese horsemen. Such scenes were often inspired by engravings, though we do not know the source for this hunting scene. The holes at the top of the rim suggest this was inteded to hang on a wall rather than serve as an actual tray.
