May 20, 1983, sold by the Galerie L’Isle du Démon, Paris, to William and Bertha Teel, Marblehead, MA; 2014, bequest of William Teel to the MFA. (Accession Date: February 26, 2014)

NOTE: Etienne and Monique de Ganay, Regine and Charles van den Broek d'Obrenan, and Jean Ratisbone financed and undertook an expedition through Oceania between 1934 and 1936, acquiring over 2000 objects. They deposited the collection at the Musée de l'Homme; more than 300 of these objects were publicly sold in 1961. This lime container is marked with the museum number D-39-3-1013-1.
