Description
The Value of Integrity is a basket typical of Goshorn’s practice, inspired by the water protection efforts of the Standing Rock Sioux reservation, who protested against the Dakota Access Pipeline from 2016-2017. The basket is woven in the style of a traditional Cherokee “chain” pattern. The red, green, and white of the basket’s interior represent land water and air. The text that makes up the many weaves of the basket comes from the Fort Laramie Treaty of 1868 which granted land in South Dakota to the Lakota people, including the contested area of the Dakota Access Pipeline.
